What is Blue Card?
Blue Card is a work and residence permit issued by the European Union for highly qualified foreign workers. Germany is one of the countries offering the most advantageous conditions for Blue Card holders.
The German EU Blue Card is a residence title for applicants with eligible qualifications and a qualifying job offer. The qualification must match the role; a degree-free route exists for certain experienced IT professionals.

Eligible shortage occupations and certain recent graduates may qualify at €45,934.20 in 2026. Federal Employment Agency approval and other requirements apply. Examples include:
